This was the entry for the Mincraft competition.... I can't see why it wasn't put through.... Owell.

I'm Back!!!!

So I should really use this more often to track my progress in the design world...

So I finished my second year for my degree in Illustration Graphics on a solid footing and now I'm finally realising the style of work that I want to produce. During the summer I have managed to add to my portfolio of work in which I shall be posting some work on here after I have written this.

I have most recently entered a Mincraft based t-shirt competition in which for some bizarre reason my entry was rejected...... I still don't understand why?!? The t-shirt met the brief and the quality was as good if not better than some of the entries that they had already selected. It was a tad bemusing to be honest and left me feeling slightly dejected...

I have also been designing some banners for a companies website based in Northampton. The samples that I have sent seem to have gone down well so hopefully i'll have some positive news from that in the coming weeks.

On top of all of this I'm currently designing a document for AGA/Rangemaster. The document is an engineers checklist for when they install an appliance in a customers home. Not the most interesting document I will ever design however I have gone a tad OCD with the spacing to make sure it looks professional. If all goes well then the document will go nationwide :)

Last but not least is a new project received today. I will be designing a logo for a friends cross stitch company. The company is called Jessaweyo Cross-Stitch and she makes some incredible pieces of modern cross stitch work. If you don't believe me check it out for yourselves on https://www.facebook.com/JessaweyoCrossStitch. I'll make a logo and maybe a banner depending on the clients needs. And hopefully ill get some awesome cross stitch in return. Win win situation :)

New Illustration Project...

Since I'm catching up with this blog I should also probably mention that I have been given a new illustration project...

The idea is that we come up with a plot and do a 16 page colour book or a 32 page black and white book or and animatic...

I'm currently designing the main character which will be a fire fighting duck...

The morale of the story will be to never play with matches!

However I'm still unsure of the middle but hopefully this will be resolved by next week :)

PDP...

So this week I have been focusing on my PDP.

This is a task that I have been putting off for some weeks but as I have to present my findings on Monday I thought it was about time that I completed this work.

Having to evaluate my future is something that I have found to be a very valuable exercise. Looking at what skills I will need to develop during my final year and a half at university will help me to prepare myself for the challenges ahead...

Better get on with the work now :P

Moving on...

So I have now finished the module I better start doing my PDP. Reading the brief today has probably given me more questions than answers... Least I have started it.

From what I understand we begin the Illustration module this Thursday. This is something that I would like to pay more attention to this year as last years scheduling meant that I could not spend as much time on it as I would have liked to. It is the perfect opportunity for me to improve my drawing skills and find a style that I am comfortable with.

Nearly done

So I'm coming to the end of my module and for once panic isn't setting in. I'm on top of all of my work however for the film project I would have liked to have produced something of a better quality.

This is something that I can put in my evaluation.
One thing that I have not been able to do so far is screen print my work for the typography section of the module. This is due to the university not having all of the correct paints. Unfortunate as it is, it's something that I can't help. I will have to screen print at a later date.

I will post pictures of my work soon as they will be the finished products.

New work...

Recently I've been working on my 3D character model. This is something that I have decided to make out of foam. Due to all of the parts that I need to make for it. Its easier to get the angle that I would like from making it out of parts of foam than clay.

The other project that I have been working on is the film project. Mainly the story board aspect. One thing that has taken more thought than I had initially planned is the film festivals logo. Due to my festival showing car chases I should start to look at popular car logo's. This will help me to form ideas about what it should look like.
